Give 'em Hell Iacocca!

A friend of mine sent me an excerpt of Lee Iacocca's new book, which he found at Borders' website. Sad that it takes an 82-year-old retired car company executive to remind the very lazy American public that their reaction to the state of things in Washington has been lame at best. But we'll take whatever we can get!

Iacocca, famed for saving Chrysler back when the phrase Global Warming probably hadn't been heard yet, all but calls the current President Bush a liar and a crook in his diatribe against "things as they are" in today's America.

Under the heading "Had Enough?" Iacocca asks, "Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'Stay the course.'"

Iacocca appeared this weekend on Tim Russert's one-on-one interview program and he could not have come across as more credible (though he scared me a bit when he mentioned that finding a state that would accept nuclear waste might help solve that little "oops" of a problem inherent in nuclear energy). He may be too old to run for office this time around, but perhaps he'll offer his wisdom to one of the more worthy contenders. Suggestions anyone?
